We were excited to see lot's of interest for a QAL of one of our new designs and thanks to CraftyDeb we've named it "Mod Olives"!

My sister Sherilyn came up with this design and I loved it so much, I figured out how to make it, of course with the Quick Curve Ruler!

The "Mod Olive's" QAL will start Saturday, February 1st and run for 6 weeks.

The finished quilt will measure at 54" x 52" and there will be 48 blocks in all.

The fabric requirements are for the layout and fabric color placement I will be doing for my own quilt.  You're welcome to be creative with your blocks and layout but that may change the required fabric for your own quilt top.

Since I will be making my quilt along side with you I don't have a finished quilt top to show you but will explain it.  The 6 Mod Olive blocks you see above is one out of 4 groupings I will be making.  Each group will have a different solid color oval (diagram below).

Fabric Requirements for the above layout and design are:

(48) 6 x 8 rectangles prints (center diamonds)
or
(8) Fat Quarters (you will get six 6 x 8 rectangles per fat quarter)

1 3/4 yards for background fabric (light blue)

(4) 1/2 yards for solid color ovals (green, pink, yellow, teal)

I've got my fabric all ready to go!

If you're joining the QAL, I created a fun button!

Don't forget to join the "Mod Olives Flickr Group" and show everyone the fabrics your choose.  We would love to see what you come up with!

I really DO love these blcoks…and will be so happy to have one of them in my quilt once Linda gets the blcoks, sorts them, and sends them back out to all the participants. I still stand by my comment from yesterday that my blcoks look VERY boring in comparison!
